PUEDO

On Friday, February 2nd, 2024 we launched PUEDO (Programa Unificado de EducaciĆ³n y Desarrollo para Oportunidades), leveraging the collaboration of Nathalie Brito. The idea behind this program is to provide tutoring and academic support to our participants from Center I and Center II to help them gain admission to the Instituto Politecnico Loyola (IPL).

Importance of PUEDO

We understand the need to change the perception among the underprivileged population we serve, where there's a prevailing belief that IPL is extremely challenging, akin to a prison. We aim to demystify this perception, despite the rigorous curriculum and academic competition at IPL. At Center I, we will continue to focus on children's literacy and lay a strong academic foundation, aiming for some of them to be admitted to Loyola at the primary level. We'll identify those children and work with them. Similarly, we'll provide tutoring to older students at Center II so that those who demonstrate academic aptitude can take the admission exam for IPL. Admission to IPL is limited, but if we can improve the academic level of our participants, they'll have a fair chance of being admitted. Alternatively, they'll perform much better academically in the public school system.
